Rush-the lifeblood of Pi Kappa Alpha. Recruitment is a year round process that never stops and as soon as you take a break, you are already falling behind. Thus any day and every day is a great day to recruit a new member. Most new members join Pike either because they know a Pike or because they were referred to us. So this is where the undergrad chapter is asking our alumni for some help. We rush by the National standards of SLAG (Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen) and we are always looking for the best men out there. If you know anyone that is a senior in high school and has what it takes to be a Pike then please fill out the referral form so that the rush chair can contact them.
Remember rush is a 365 day a year event, so anywhere you go is a great place to rush. You can actively rush by giving referrals, but you can also passively rush all the time. Passive rush includes telling your son, nephew or grandchild about your college experience of being in Pike. Or maybe its talking to one of their friends or even your daughters high school boyfriend. It might be searching through the newspapers and finding someone from your hometown that excels in sports, the classroom or some leadership position. It also includes wearing a pike shirt in public or even just hanging our letters some place in your home or on your license plate. The biggest rush tool is simple advertisement and each one of us can take part in that.
Our motto is “Once a Pike…Always a Pike” and if we alumni want the house to continue to grow and prosper in the right direction, then we have the power to do that by putting in the house new members that we know will uphold our high set of values. And we can do this by giving referrals of men that we know.
